TupeloLife to Participate in Health and Human Services Challenge: Opioid Symposium & Code-a-Thon

According to the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), 91 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose. The opioid epidemic is one of the most complex public health crisis in our nation currently.

Healthcare changes need to be made and the HHS is leading the way. On December 6 and 7, the HHS will host an Opioid Symposium and Code-a-thon in Washington, D.C. to promote and employ innovative ways to leverage technology and data to address the nationwide opioid epidemic.

TupeloLife is pleased to announce our participation in the events, as we recognize that safe medication management is paramount. Our vision is to change healthcare through precision, personalization, and prevention through our innovative software, hardware, apps, devices, and services.

HHS Opioid Symposium

The Opioid Symposium will bring together federal, state, and local health officials, along with first-responders, who are concerned about the opioid epidemic and can share best practices and innovative solutions using technology and data. The Symposium will be led by HHS Acting Secretary Eric Hargan and HHS Chief Technology Officer Bruce Greenstein.

HHS Code-a-Thon

The purpose of the Code-a-Thon is to develop data-driven solutions to the opioid epidemic using federal, state, and local (city, county) datasets. This event is targeted towards computer programmers and developers, application designers, public health experts, data scientists, researchers, and innovators/. “We are leveraging the datasets provided by HHS to hone a scalable and impactful solution, and we are thrilled to have pain management expert, Dr. Melissa Durham, PharmD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at USC’s School of Pharmacy collaborating with us.” -Dr. Eric Hazzard, Chief Scientific Officer.

Both the Symposium and Code-a-Thon will take place at The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services headquarters in Washington, DC:
